|
Add Metadata to Sources (Visual Data Discovery) |
You can now add metadata at the field level to your existing Visual Data Discovery sources. This allows you and your users to add additional context to improve the understanding of this field. Use to add information such as data lineage or usage restrictions. The field metadata is stored as a keyed pair of Property and Value in your Symphony environment. Use in several ways:
The metadata you define is available using the API, and exported with the source (JSON format); when you move, share, and copy or export your source to share with other Symphony environments. |
|
Simba Intelligence Field Metadata Updates (Visual Data Discovery) |
In Symphony environments that are integrated with Simba Intelligence, you can retrieve the field metadata configured at the index in OpenSearch and Elasticsearch as part of a describe API call. This can be used by Simba Intelligence to make appropriate decisions. Important: You must have the appropriate licensing from insightsoftware to see this option. |
|
Column-Level Security (Managed Dashboards & Reports) |
You can now set up column-level security for data cube output elements with customizable options to remove or mask values for the specified users or groups. |
|
Report and Scorecard CSV Export (Managed Dashboards & Reports) |
Select a report or scorecard group when exporting to CSV to combine its header, row, and footer content into one file. |
|
Source Creation Updates (Visual Data Discovery) |
Source creation work area updates make it easier for you to add derived fields, hierarchies, upload translation files, and update field capabilities. Select an output node in the Source Creation canvas, and expand the Options menu to select and perform your task. |
|
Custom Export File Name & Dates(Managed Dashboards & Reports) |
Enter a custom file name when exporting, with a placeholder available to position an added date. |
|
Simba Intelligence subscribers without the business intelligence feature licensing for other Symphony modules cannot access Visuals, Dashboards, or Reports UI or API calls. |
|
|
Rank Group Function (Managed Dashboards & Reports) |
Use the new RANKGROUP function in formulas to group only by the specified hierarchies or rank without any grouping. |
|
Interactivity Overrides (Visual Data Discovery) |
Interactivity overrides have been updated to accommodate the updated source creation workflow. |
|
Mapbox Style & Satellite Mode (Visual Data Discovery) |
You can now enter a supported style ID when you define MapBox as a Tile Provider in a source for map visuals. An additional option for display of map visuals, satellite mode, is available for supported map tile providers. |
|
Numeric Ratios (Visual Data Discovery) |
A new Ratio format is now available in the numeric format selector. Decimal values are expressed as a normalized ratio against one. For example, 0.5 renders as 1:2, 0.3333… as 1:3. This format is supported across all visuals that accept a numeric field. |
|
Text Formatting Updates (Managed Dashboards & Reports) |
Culture-sensitive text formatting in certain areas has been updated to match newer formatting already applied for measure and time dimension settings. This can result in changes for certain languages such as removing a space before the % sign for English or minor date formatting differences when using chart axis settings or visualization keywords to apply formatting, for example. |

Caution: Running an older, unsupported operating system in your environment is done so at your own risk. Plan and upgrade to a supported operating system for full support and functionality.
Kubernetes
Symphony is designed to be Kubernetes-native, and runs on clusters provisioned using Amazon EKS (AWS-managed Kubernetes). The underlying Linux OS is distro-agnostic as long as it supports a compatible container runtime and kubelet version.
-
Symphony Software as a Service runs on Kubernetes v1.31-v1.33, and is updated regularly.
-
For your self-hosted Symphony environment, v1.29 and above are supported.
Important: insightsoftware strongly recommends and expects you to stay within the latest three supported EKS versions, in line with Amazon Web Services EKS version support lifecycle.
Windows
-
Windows 10, 11
-
Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022 (64-bit) or higher
Note: Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security in Windows Server 2016 to avoid multiple Internet Explorer security notifications.
For more information on current and future planned operating system support information, see Operating System Support.
